Laserware X70 Led Torch

Cons

  • A little too heavy to put on top of your scope but it works

Summary

X70 torch is another great product from Laserware and at a great cost too.

Courtesy of Laserware, I give you the X70 LED series Torch,
Torch on its own is £54.99
Torch Kit with charger and accessories £119.99
I was sent the kit so I will be reviewing the full kit today which Charles from Laserware provided me with two modules, the powerful white LED and the separate IR , both very useful to my style of hunting.
Firstly before we get to my thoughts on the unit, here are the Specs and what Laserware say about their product:
The X70 uses a 70mm aspherical lens and powerful LEDs to deliver a precise 400m beam whilst weighing just 343 grams.
Interchangeable LEDs.
No tools are required to change the X70’s LED module: simply unscrew the lens cap and unscrew the LED, using your forefinger and thumb. You can choose from a range of LED options – including white, red, green and infrared – and purchase additional LEDs for your X70 at any time.
Dynamic focus.
The large 70mm aspherical lens is easy to focus quickly. You can go from flood-to-spot in just three rotations, saving you precious seconds when you’re identifying targets. Grip grooves line the top of the lens to make focusing extra easy, even when the torch is wet.
Lightweight shell.
The X70 has been designed with weight saving in mind. At just 343g, the X70 offers big performance without the bulk. Compared to torches by other manufacturers with the same size lens, it’s up to 30% lighter.
High power Megalith battery.
Included with our Lamping Kits is a Megalith 3400mAh, the highest possible capacity available from a genuine 18650 battery. A PCB is installed on each battery to protect the battery from misuse. Also included is a UK 3-pin wall charger and charger base.
Run times on the brightest beam:
X70 with white LED 2hrs 30m
X70 with red LED 4hrs 15m
X70 with green LED 4hrs 15m
X70 with IR LED 3hrs 45m

“Full Lamping Kit” option includes:
Laserware X70 LED Torch, with your choice of colour LED
Laserware 18 Month Warranty
Instruction booklet
UK 3-pin charger plug (TUV certified)
Dual-mode “rat-tail” pressure switch
Heavy-duty scope accessory mount (fits scope diameters of 25-35mm)
Megalith rechargeable 18650 battery (guaranteed 3400mAh capacity)
18650 charger base
Matte black protective tool case for the X70 and all component

My thoughts……………………………
I have used this unit on and off now for a couple of weeks both using the I lens as well as the white light LED lens and I have been very impressed. I have been using for us with my Yukon Photon as well as using it to find kills on dense clear fells in the wood.

Firstly my thoughts on the Torch itself with the white LED,
The torch is made of good quality material and you feel the weight of quality when you hold it in your hand. The shortened body allows it to slip into your pocket reducing the use of batteries to one 18650 instead of the traditional T67 using 2 18650’s, The light is brilliant white that gives you plenty of illumination both on concentrated spot as well as flood,

The one thing I had noticed in regards to when your using the white LED is that it only has one function which is full not giving you dime functions etc, however, I prefer this as it is annoying when you have to work your way through the setting when using a torch for shooting.

As far as comparing the X70 to other torches I have reviewed it genuinely is up there with the best in regards to the white LED, You get good distance as well as good performance and the zoom beam is definately a great function and very clear when looking through the scope out to 200yrds plus.

The IR lens is very good and definitely a complete change from what I normally use, I would definitely say the quality is very high giving that extra distance when you need it most, I would happily see out to 200 yards with this and more using the standard 5×42 Yukon Photon. I have been using a T20 with doubler which I find more than sufficient but this does boost the image far far more and I would say even further and better than a T67 IR.

Changing the lenses is easy but remember it is not your normal right hand screw but you unscrew it the opposite way from normal (it’s Christmas I don’t know my right from my left today lol) so just bare this in mind when changing lenses, Oh and when your changing lens you can easily see the quality of the glass on the outer lens.

It does come with a scope mounting kit which is good but I never trust them and I definitely would not attach it to my Swaro scope as fear of damaging my expensive scope, but this does not put the mount down at all as it is useful but it’s my own preference that I would not want to risk damaging my scope at all.

In conclusion, This is a brilliant kit and well worth the money and far cheaper than its competitors, there has been clearly a lot of thought and development into the X70 giving you great value for money. Would I purchase this over say a NightMaster? yes I would as it does the same job and saving you a good £100, Lamping kits are expensive and I feel sometimes TOO expensive for what they are but this definitely has price going for it.
