Arctic Blast Forecasted
Well it is that time of year again, after the recently mild weather Arctic Blasts are expected ,
Winter Storms from names A to B, But in the end that’s what to expect it is after all January.
Are you ready??
As of Friday 13th Jan, The UK is supposed to be hit by some of the worst winter storms forecasts for a number of years. Some of us will still be working in those conditions as Game Management and Farming etc does not stop due to a little wind and snow.
I know many of you will be topping up your pheasant and partridge feeders, Deer feeding stations topped up, pens and shelters secured and hoping for it not to be as bad as predicted.
Heavy weather such as this really effects Game and Deer populations if it is over a prolonged period of time.
I personally like it when it is like this, it allows me to work on a lot of things that I have let go like rifle and gun maintenance or work on articles and test equipment. I genuinely enjoy the anticipation of bad weather. One thing though that does not stop for me is pest control as when the weather is bad all the predators are out in force, it’s sometimes difficult conditions create the best conditions for predators such as foxes to hunt unsuspecting game. Pheasants are at their worst in High wind conditions making them sit tight, and a passing fox will easily take them while they roost in the long heather or grass, so work never stops.
I hope everyone stays safe and not worry about the weather too much.
