Whats been Happening at Field Sports Scotland (FSS)
This year FSS has went from Strength to Strength,
Our reviews have been on going with some great products over the months being reviewed and so more great products to come with added support from people like Thomas Jacks Ltd providing us some very good products to test.
We have upgraded our wireless video capabilities and brought some great products to the market such as our Field/Target cam and our Truck night vision spotter.
I have had a good Roe season with some very good Bucks and a few Sika stags etc.
Foxes have been a little slower since the end of the dens there has been only two foxes spotted and both are have been very much dealt with.
Rabbits recently have taken a lot of my time, rabbiting over the summer on the farms is really important, the young start finding their territories and mating as you know is constant, areas that we thought we were breaking through on we have seen an influx of rabbits coming from the neighbours grounds which has given us a lot of fun. I have had some very big bag nights with the most being 50 in 3 hours. For the rabbits the little CZ455 comes into its own with the, now older, 6.5 Photon Xt.
Deer are still our main work and with guests being taken out on a weekly basis we have been kept on our feet. I have had a few days fishing on the river Spey with guests and some Loch fishing which is always fun.
Things to look forward to.
Well since it has been all go I have to mention things we are looking forward to. Our trust Hound “Lana” is “possibly” pregnant and is due around the first few days of September, which is very very exciting not just for me but for the whole family. This will be the very first and probably the only litter of pups taken from my wee girl.
In October I will be joining Gerald Delk as his competition partner in Tennessee at the GAP GRIND Pro/Am precision rifle comp. For me this is a dream come true, I cannot believe this opportunity has landed on my feet and I am constantly working on my fitness for this.
The stag season obviously has started but our rut will be in full swing when I get back after my 5 day break so back to working the clear-fells for GMS for the winter.
It has been busy and it is going to be busy, a lot of hard work into everything we do here at FSS and we still have not mentioned our pheasant days or planned clay pigeon days that we will be organising.
So FSS is constantly working.
