Recipe 2 For young Keepers to try. Lasange (Sika)

Welcome to this weeks recipe for those of you working on a budget,

This weeks one is homemade Lasagne ,

Now a lot of you are going to say that Lasagne can be bought as a micro meal for as little as a quid, the problem with that is the Lasange’ that is bought as micro-meals are neither appetising or nutritious and if done wrong are watery and terrible, so this recipe is for a a hearty Lasange that can be made and cut into sections and can be frozen so can provide up to 8 days of meals depending on the portions and on top of all that it is amazingly healthy and nutritious but most of all it’s sooooo easy to make .

Ingredients.

9 x Lasange sheets – per pack £1 depending what ones you get.

800 grams Mince – you can use beef, Turkey or like what I used Venison. around £3 or free depending what meat you use,

( I used Sika Venison Mince because I get it for free and some young keepers will have access to the odd beast or two)

2 x Large Onions – 20 or 30p

1x Large Pepper ( Red preferrably )

White Sauce, Now you can use a either a couple of packet mixes which will require the Use of milk, or you can use a Large jar of  ready made White Sauce .  if using packet mix it is 60p per packet (I would use 2 or 3) if using the ready made jar £1.69

Lasange Sauce – again you can either use a large already made jar that cost £1.69 or you can use my below recipe to make your own sauce.

(I will give you that recipe at the bottom of the page, the sauce can be made in bulk and frozen to be used in future recipes such as chilli and pasta dishes.)

300 grams of Chedder cheese. – £2.65

and a large deep oven dish.

How to cook .

Firstly chop the onions and peppers you can make them as thin or as chunky as you like.

Brown off the mince in a large frying pan,

Once Browned add the Peppers and Onions and fry for around 5 minutes .

Add the lasange sauce and allow to simmer for a another 5 minutes .

Within the deep Oven dish spread a thin layer of white sauce on the bottom

Then layer the bottom of the dish with Pasta sheets  ( Usually takes three but remember you need enough to make three tiers)

Then take Half your meat and Sauce mix from the frying pan and put it on top of the first layer of Pasta sheets and spread evenly over the sheets.

Add another Layer of Pasta sheets.

Add the remaining half of the Meat and sauce mix,

Add another Layer of Pasta Sheets, Don’t worry the pasta sheets ARE supposed to be dry.

Then add the white sauce over the top of the whole dish so it covers everything.

Grate off cheese until it covers the whole of the top of the sauce.

Put in the oven for 45minutes,

and your done,.,….

Once cooled you can portion off and wrap the portions in cling film or put in a tupperware  tub and frozen.
